Its size, relief, climate, and natural resources make Brazil geographically diverse.

Brazil has the world's seventh largest economy by nominal GDP, and the seventh largest by purchasing power parity. Brazil is the member of United Nations, G20, BRICS, Organization of American States, Latin Union etc. Brazil is the largest national economy in Latin America. Brazil has been the world's largest producer of coffee for the last 150 years. Brazil is one of the fastest growing economies in the world. Major export products include aircraft, electrical equipment, automobiles, ethanol, textiles, footwear, iron ore, steel, coffee, orange juice, soybeans and corned beef.

Brazil is the fourth country in the world in number of patients with diabetes. The diabetes epidemic affects most countries across the world and is increasing at alarming rates in Latin America. Nearly 12 million individuals have diabetes in Brazil, and the current prevalence ranges from 6.3% to 13.5%, depending on the region and the diagnostic criteria. In 2000, there were 4.6 million patients with diabetes in Brazil, making it the country with the eighth highest diabetes prevalence rate in the world. In Brazil’s 11 largest cities, between 5.7% and 16.2% of the population has diabetes. By 2030, the total number of cases is projected to reach 11.3 million. Brazil is ranked one among 5 in publishing highest number of articles in Diabetes & Endocrinology.
