Description of the country: China or officially known “People’s Republic of China”, with its 23 provinces, five autonomous regions, four municipalities and two special administrative regions is world’s most populated and second largest country of the world in land area. China with its outstanding advancements in telecommunications, transportation and infrastructure has become world’s fastest growing economy.
Status about Gastroenterology research in China: China has produced a total of 8 Nobel laureates in field such as Physics, Chemistry and Medicine. Chinese ethnicity is at the highest risk of gastroenterology disease. In past decade extensive work is done by Chinese scientists in this field which could be witnessed by increase in numbers of total articles, clinical trials, randomized controlled trials, case reports, impact factors (IF), citation reports, and articles published in the top general medical journals. Chinese medical journals such as World Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Diseases International publish around 90% of Chinese articles in gastroenterology.
